Sports team charter

A team charter is a logistics problem with a kick-off time attached.

The flight is judged by one thing.

Whether the squad arrives in a condition to perform, at the hour the schedule requires. Everything else on this page exists to serve that.

Teams

Away fixtures and training camps, planned around the things that actually decide the day. Departure timed to the training session rather than to an airline timetable, and the airport closest to the stadium or the camp rather than the nearest hub.

Kit and medical equipment are handled as cargo that must arrive with the squad, not as excess baggage that might follow. Catering is built to the nutrition plan. Seating lets staff work in flight.

Who travels

Rarely only the squad.

Players and coaching staffOn the aircraft configured for them, with the recovery window after the match planned into the return.
Officials, medical and technical staffWorking in flight, with seating and tables that allow it.
Sponsors, partners and familiesOn the same aircraft or a separate one, depending on what the day needs.
Organised supporter groupsMoved as their own operation, with handling briefed for the numbers.
On the day

What has already been settled before you board.

  1. 01 Slots at both ends Confirmed in advance, including the return after a fixture that may overrun.
  2. 02 Handling briefed on the equipment So the kit is expected at the aircraft rather than discovered there.
  3. 03 One contact reachable throughout The same person from the enquiry to the arrival back home.
  4. 04 The flight tracked from our side If something changes, you hear it from us first, with options already attached.

Into the airport closest to the stadium.

The coach transfer at the far end is part of the plan, not an afterthought.

Where we work

Our football experience sits in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, and the model carries to every discipline that travels as a squad: ice hockey, basketball, handball, volleyball, athletics and motorsport crews.

Roger Hohl has arranged team charters since his time at the Austrian carrier InterSky: Bundesliga football clubs, national football teams, and ice hockey and basketball sides.

Sizing the aircraft

The travelling party decides the type.

Up to 19Travelling Regional turboprop or jet Embraer 135, ATR 42 A small squad without staff, at the lowest cost per movement.
30 to 50Travelling Turboprop or regional jet ATR 72, Dash 8, CRJ 900 Squad and coaching staff, kit in the hold.
50 to 90Travelling Small narrowbody Embraer 190, Airbus A220 Squad, staff and partners on one aircraft.
90 to 180Travelling Narrowbody Boeing 737, Airbus A320 The standard team charter, with hold space for full kit.
180 and upTravelling Large narrowbody Airbus A321, Boeing 757 Squad, staff, families and an organised supporter group together.

Seat count is not the only limit. Kit volume and the size of the hold door decide as often as passenger numbers do, which is why we ask what travels before we ask how many.

Questions we are asked

Before you enquire.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as the fixture or the camp is confirmed. For a season with known away dates, a block booking is usually both cheaper and safer than seven separate charters.

Short notice is possible and we do it regularly. What changes is availability and price, not whether it can be done.

Does the kit travel with the squad?

Yes. Kit and medical equipment are planned into the load from the start, as cargo that must arrive with the squad rather than as excess baggage that might follow on the next service.

Tell us the volume and the heaviest single item at the enquiry stage. It can change which aircraft we recommend.

Can staff, sponsors and families travel on the same aircraft?

Usually yes, and where the numbers or the schedule do not allow it we arrange a second aircraft. Supporter groups are normally moved as their own operation.

What happens if the fixture overruns?

The return is planned with a buffer and the crew duty time is checked against the latest realistic departure, not the earliest. If the delay goes beyond what was planned for, you hear the options from us rather than from the handling desk.

What drives the cost of a team charter?

Aircraft type and flight time first, then positioning, the season, the airports at both ends and how much notice we have. A midweek away fixture at short notice and a pre-booked summer camp are different commercial problems even on the same route.

Send us the fixture list or the camp dates and you will have a figure for those movements, itemised.

Anything not answered here, ask us directly. We would rather say we do not know than guess.

Tell us the fixture.

Squad size, kit, and the hour you need to be on the ground.
